Content Moderation and Online Safety
How reports and moderation decisions work, and who is responsible.
- Version 1.0
- Effective October 29, 2026
- For: Everyone who uses or reports content on TeamALA
In short
- This page explains how we handle reports and moderation decisions, and gives the information that the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and the UK Online Safety Act 2023 require us to publish.
What users can post
Communities can publish:
- (a) a community page: a name, a description of up to 1,000 characters, up to 6 links, and an icon loaded from Roblox or Discord; and
- (b) short links (go.teamala.org, or a community's own domain) that redirect to an address the community chose.
Staff can see reports, join requests and audit entries inside their community. People are never shown on public pages.
Our rules
Our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy say what is not allowed. They include a ban on illegal content, pornography, and content encouraging suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
How we find problems
- (a) People report them, at teamala.org/report or with the report button on every community page and short link.
- (b) Our short-link filter blocks known dangerous destinations (raw IP addresses, internal hosts, lookalike domains and blocked sites).
- (c) Our staff review reports.
We do not use automated tools to make final moderation decisions. If that changes, we will say so in our decisions.
How to report (DSA article 16)
Your report should include:
- (a) why you believe the content is illegal or breaks our rules;
- (b) the exact web address;
- (c) your name and email address (not needed for reports of child sexual abuse material); and
- (d) a statement that you believe in good faith that the report is accurate and complete.
We confirm receipt at once, decide carefully and without undue delay, and tell you what we decided and what you can do next.
Our targets are:
- (a) 24 hours for child sexual abuse material, terrorism, threats to life, and phishing or malware;
- (b) 72 hours for other clearly illegal content; and
- (c) 7 days for everything else.
Our decisions (DSA article 17)
When we remove or restrict content, or suspend an account or community, we tell the people affected:
- (a) what we did, where it applies and for how long;
- (b) the facts we relied on, including whether someone reported it;
- (c) whether automated tools were used;
- (d) the law or rule concerned; and
- (e) how to challenge the decision.
Asking for a review and making a complaint
6.1 Ask for a review within 6 months at teamala.org/report. Where possible, a different member of staff reviews the decision. We aim to reply within 14 days, and we reverse the decision if the review succeeds.
6.2 You can also go to court.
6.3 Users in the United Kingdom may also complain to us about:
- (a) content they believe is illegal or harmful to children;
- (b) our compliance with our online safety duties; or
- (c) action taken against their content or account.
Use the same route. We will acknowledge the complaint, look into it, and tell you the outcome.
Crimes and child safety
7.1 We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and, where the law requires, to the UK National Crime Agency.
7.2 Where we become aware of information suggesting a crime involving a threat to someone's life or safety, we tell the relevant authorities (DSA Article 18).
Contact points
8.1 For authorities (DSA Article 11) and for users (DSA Article 12):
- legal@teamala.org (authorities) and teamala.org/report or support@teamala.org (users).
- Languages: English.
8.2 EU legal representative (DSA Article 13): none appointed. The Euverify appointment has ended. TeamALA processes no personal data of people in the EU or UK other than for testing during this period. Representatives will be appointed before it does. Contact: privacy@teamala.org.
8.3 Average monthly active recipients in the EU: available on request (DSA Article 24(3)).
Who is responsible
Sébastien Ayotte, Managing Member of TeamALA Ltd Liability Co., is the person accountable for our online safety duties.
Transparency
As a micro enterprise, we are not required to publish DSA transparency reports. We will publish summary figures once we have them.
